Physical gold details

  • London Bullion Market Association (LBMA)

The London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) is an organisation that regulates the international trade in gold and silver bars and sets globally recognised trading standards. It is one of the most important institutions in the precious metals industry and awards Good Delivery status. The LBMA works continuously to make the precious metals market more transparent. Key measures were successfully implemented in 2012 and 2019.

  • Introduction of the Responsible Sourcing Programme

In 2012, the LBMA introduced the Responsible Sourcing Programme, which follows a due diligence process in line with the OECD Guidelines. All Good Delivery refineries wishing to trade via the London bullion market must comply with the Responsible Gold Guidance. These refineries are audited annually by independent certification bodies and must provide evidence that the precious metal traded is conflict-free.

  • Extension of the criteria

Since 2019, the standard has been extended to include further criteria, adding social and environmental aspects to the sourcing process and promoting responsible conduct by refineries.
